Job Description: Journeyman 

IEG has immediate openings and is currently seeking Industrial Service Electricians to troubleshoot, test, repair, install and calibrate electrical and electronic equipment at customer sites in the CO, SC, NC, and GA areas. This position requires some overnight travel on occasion.

Responsibilities: 

Testing and measurement of AC/DC utilities and control circuits.

Able to interpret electrical/electronic schematics and technical manuals.

Thorough understanding of industrial controls, 3-phase power, PLCs, VFDs, distribution switchgear, transformers, and instrumentation.

Able to work with various hand tools and electrical test equipment.

Able to demonstrate satisfactory troubleshooting skills.

Able to communicate effectively with appropriate departments/individuals.

Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment, hand tools and personal knowledge to determine root cause.

Performs necessary maintenance tasks including but not limited to troubleshooting, the repair or replacement of defective and damaged parts, adjustments, and calibration procedures, assemble, install, test and execute preventative maintenance tasks on various forms of manufacturing equipment using hand and power tools.

Must report to work on time; tardiness will not be tolerated.

Must have valid driver’s license

Must have dependable transportation to travel to jobsites up to 50 miles

Must be able to pass a drug test

Must have a clean MVR

Must be able to pass a background check

Skills & Experience: 

5+ years industrial maintenance experience preferred working at the Mechanic/Journeyman level.

Must have thorough understanding of electrical safe work practices and NFPA 70E requirements.

Must have experience with and the ability to demonstrate electrical and mechanical maintenance principles, concepts, and troubleshooting techniques including a working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.

Knowledge of multiple industrial manufacturing processes required, such as automotive, paint line, extrusion molding, chemical / process, conveyors, metal stamping, and robotic welding.

AC/DC motor troubleshooting experience required.

Electrical controls maintenance and repair proficiency.

Siemens, Allen Bradley, and/or other PLC troubleshooting experience preferred.

Must be familiar with control I/O devices such as ProX sensors, Reed switches, start/stop pushbutton stations, photo electric sensors, relays, contactors, motor starters.

Must have familiarity with industrial communications such as RS485, Profibus, Ethernet, DeviceNet, etc.

Ability to think logically, analytically and solve problems.

Strong multitasking abilities.

Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to take lead role on job, delegate work, order materials, and manage workers under stressful shut-down job conditions.

Ability to install and modify EMT, Rigid, Rob Roy, PVC, and other conduit types utilizing hand, mechanical, and electric benders such as a Greenlee 555 or 855.

Ability to operate conduit cutting, threading, and reaming equipment such as Power Pony, Rigid 300 and 500 series machines, and geared threaders.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in heights for extended periods of time.

Ability to work days, nights, and weekends per customer demands with occasional 12 to 14-hour shifts is required.

Willingness to mentor and train younger generation of electricians.
